| Regulation of HCAT |
|
If a student does not report to the institute within 10 days of the start of the class and if the institute does not receive any communication from the student regarding this matter (within this time period), the student’s admission will be considered null and void. |
|
The fees are according to the guidelines prescribed by the “Hyderabad College of Aviation Technology management”. |
|
All original certificates of the student shall remain in the custody of the institute (for verification and administrative purposes) until the student leaves the institute. |
|
Attested photocopies of these certificates will be provided on submission of a valid written application to the Admin. Office. |
|
In case of voluntary withdrawal from the Institute, the student must deposit for the amount of the tuition fees for the current semester of his/her study. |
|
Every student is required to fill out a detailed application form mentioning all details. |
|

| CLASSROOM DECORUM: |
|
Students are expected to maintain decorum in the classroom at all times. This ensures smooth conduct of classes and creates a good environment for the conduct of teaching activities. |
|
No drinking, eating or chewing (e.g., chewing gum, etc.) is allowed in the classroom. The only exception is that you can keep a bottle of water for your own use in between classes. |
|
Silence is expected in the class when the instructor is teaching. |
|
Use of mobile phones is not allowed inside the class room. |
|

| LANGUAGE POLICIES: |
|
We do respect the deep rooted and varied linguistic culture of India and all its people. At the same time, we also acknowledge the real world benefits that are conferred on a person having superior skills in the English language. In particular, we acknowledge the fact, in a rapidly globalizing world, knowledge of English is a must. |
|
All instruction in the classroom and laboratories must be carried out in English. |
|
All notices and correspondence will be English. |
|
All teaching and non-teaching associates are encouraged to talk to students only in English. |
|
All teaching and non-teaching associates are encouraged to undergo formal training to improve their communication skills in English. |
|
The spelling conventions will be North American English as far as possible. Prefer "color" over "colour". Prefer "rationalize" over "rationalise". Prefer "pediatrics" over "paediatrics". ". Prefer "gage" over "gauge" |

| MEDICAL FACILITIES: |
|
The medical assistance rendered by the institute shall be confined to providing first aid and initial humanitarian assistance only, irrespective of whether the medical problem occurs on-campus or of campus. |
|
In any medical emergency occurring in the hostel, the concerned student or his/her friend(s) must inform the Hostel Caretaker, Hostel Superintendent immediately. At the same time the student or his/her friends(s) must inform the parents /guardians of the patient. This is an absolute must if the student is admitted to any medical/nursing center. |
|
The institute will not be held responsible for any subsequent medical problems or emergency situations that might arise due to the negligence of the student. |
|
The institute is not responsible for the cost of medicines, hospitalization, specialist fees, etc. |
|
All teaching and non-teaching associates are encouraged to undergo formal training to improve their communication skills in English. |
|

| LABORATORY POLICIES: |
|
Students must adhere to the dress code prescribed by the laboratory instructors with respect to wearing of shoes, lab coats, etc. They may be expelled from the lab. class for not adhering to this code. |
|
Any breakage of laboratory equipments will be recorded and the cost of damage will be recovered from either the student or the group of student responsible for the same. |
|

| LIBRARY: |
|
The Library is fully equipped with Technical Books. |
|
A book is issued for a period of 7 days (it can be renewed once for another 7 days) & a fine of Rs.1/- per day is levied for late return. If the return of a book is late by more than 15 days a fine Rs.50/- per week of delay has to be paid. |
|
Reference books are only for reading inside the Library. If they are not returned on the same day, a fine of Rs. 10/- will be levied per day. |
|
Without ID card books cannot be issued. The ID card holder must be present while issuing books. |
|
Maximum 2 Books are allowed for each student. |
|
If a book is lost, the lost must be informed to the librarian as soon as possible. |
|
Library fines will not be levied for official holidays. |
|
Please Refrain from tearing books, magazines, etc. Any one found doing so will be heavily penalized. |
|
Sleeping is strictly prohibited inside the library. |
|
A person shall be responsible for any damage done by him/her to the books or other property of the library. He/she may be fined or penalized as per the rules of the institute. The decision of the librarian and library staff in regards to these matters shall be final and binding. |
|
Written request for new titles may be given to the librarian at any time. You must specify the title, author(s) and the publishers name. |
|
Every students shall strive to maintain the cleanliness and silence of the library. |
|

| STUDENT FEES: |
|
The fees are according to the guidelines prescribed by the Hyderabad College of Aviation Technology management. |
|
The entire tuition fees for the course can payable at a time or semester wise or can also be paid monthly for 30 months. |
|
In case where the original certificates are required by the student, the student must deposit an amount of Rs. 2,000/- (Rupees Two Thousand Only) to the account office. This amount will be returned to the student when the certificates are returned to the Institute. |
|
In case of the student taking a certificate to study elsewhere or for any other reason whatsoever, he/she has to deposit the semester fees of the current semester. |
|

| GRIEVANCES: |
|
If the student has a problem or needs help in some matter he/she should inform the concerned authorities in the proper manner, preferably in writing. |
|
Library matters are handled by the Librarian. |
|
All matters relate to a course are handled by the respective instructor. In such matters the institute strives to minimize external interference in the running of a course by vesting all authority in the instructor. |
|

| IDENTITY CARD: |
|
An identity card bearing the student admission number and photograph will be provided to every student. This identity card will be used for library and all other types of related purpose by the student. |
|
If an identity card is lost, the loss must be reported to the Admin. Officer as soon as possible. A duplicate Identity Card will be issued on payment of Rs.100/- |
|

| INTERNAL EXAMINATIONS: |
|
A series of monthly tests will be conducted for internal evaluation of the students' progress. |
|
The monthly tests will normally be conducted as per the directive of the course coordinator of the batch. |
|
The aggregate of the monthly tests will be added to the marks of semester Examination. |
|
A 3 hours & 1 ½ Hours long examination will be conducted towards the end of the semester according to CAR, Section – 2, Airworthiness, Series – E, Part - VIII. |
|
An absence in an examination is treated as a score of zero. |
|
If a student has missed a monthly Test and wishes to appear for a make-up test, he/she can submit a written application for the same in writing to the Chief Instructor for the conduct of a make-up examination. In case of medical reasons, a special test fees of Rs. 50/- must be paid for the test. For all other situations, a special test fees of Rs.100/- has to be paid. |
|
The marks of a Monthly test will be scaled down by 20%. In other words, the marks obtained by the student will be multiplied by 0.8. |
|
Participation in sports, extra-curricular activities, etc., is NOT a valid reason for missing any internal examination. Written permission from the Chief Instructor is required for this to be considered. |
|
Students with large outstanding financial dues may be stopped from appearing in the internal examinations. |
|
Students with less than 80% attendance in any theory subject /in any laboratory will not be allowed to appear semester examinations. |
|

| SESSIONAL/PRACTICAL EVALUATIONS: |
|
Sessional evaluation is performed based on various things depending on the nature of the subject. The complete plan of evaluation will be announced by the Instructor at the start of the semester. The grading items may include various items like

| CONSUMPTION OF HARMFUL SUBSTANCES: |

In consonance with international norms for educational institutions and modern healthcare guidelines, HCAT has a strict policy on consumption of harmful substances on the campus premises.
-
The entire campus is a NO SMOKING zone. Smoking will not be allowed in any form at any location of the campus.
-
Spitting in the public areas of the college not permitted.
-
Consumption of any other harmful substances like tobacco powder, gutkha, khaini, etc. is prohibited in the campus.
-
Eating of paan (betel nut preparations) in any form is prohibited in the campus.
-
Consumption of alcohol in any form is prohibited on the campus. Any student or associate found to be under the influence of alcohol inside the campus premises will be liable to the severest punishment including monetary fines, suspension, expulsion, etc.

Chewing gum /bubble gum and similar confectionary items are allowed provided that care is taken not to cause pollution in the campus due to improper disposal of the waste matter like wrappers, used chewing gum. etc.

These policies are applicable to all students and associates and also to the visitors to our campus. It is the duty of the students and associates to inform any visitor of these policies.

Any questions regarding these policies can be submitted to the Admin officer in writing.

| THE DISCIPLINARY COMMITTEE: |
1. There is a standing Disciplinary Committee consisting of 3 instructors (Mr. B.S. Raju, Mr. K.B. Rao & Mr. A.N. Rao) and headed by Chief Instructor. The sole purpose of the DC is to investigate acts of indiscipline by students and associates.
2.
The following are considered as acts of indiscipline:
- Eve-teasing or any other form of sexual harassment.
- Physical violence of any kind involving physical contact.
- Any violation of institute rules.
- Willful damaging institutes property.
- Interfering with the normal operation of the institute by any disruptive action of any kind.
3. PHYSICAL VIOLENCE is defined by physical contact. If during an angry altercation, you touch someone and that person complains of physical violence, it will be considered to be a valid case. The intensity or force of the contact will not be considered as it calls for a subjective judgment.
4.
The institute reserves the right to define other acts of indiscipline as and when required.
5.The institute reserves the right of punishment through fines, reporting to parents, suspension for one academic year or more, reporting to police authorities, etc.
6.
In cases where the institute property in the Campus, buses etc., has been damaged- the institute reserves the right to collect punitive fines to be decided by a duly constituted committee.
7.
The Institute specifically reserves the right of expelling the student from the Institute depending on the seriousness of the offense. If a student is expelled from the college on disciplinary grounds, there shall be no refund of the college fees.

| LAW AND ORDER ISSUES: |
1.Students are responsible for the safekeeping of their own belongings. The institute shall provide adequate guards but is not responsible for any theft of students’ belongings from classroom, buses, etc.
2.If the theft is of a serious magnitude, the institute reserves the right to inform the police about the same.
3.
In other issues of law and order like physical assault or battery, the usual procedure is to conduct an investigation by the Disciplinary Committee. However, the institute reserves the right to hand over the case to the police if the case is deemed to be a serious one.
4.
The institute does not take the responsibility of ensuring the physical safety and well being of students.
5.
In law and order issues which arise from incidents happening outside the college, the institute will not be involved officially. However, we may provide help on humanitarian grounds where it is possible.
6.
All disputes concerning Hyderabad College of Aviation Technology are subject to Hyderabad/ Secunderabad jurisdiction. |

| POLICY AGAINST RAGGING: |
1.Ragging or harassment of new students by old students of the Institute in any form is strictly prohibited in the hostels and the institute. This should not be treated as a mere statutory warning but as a basic policy statement of the teachers and the management of Hyderabad College of Aviation Technology.
2.RAGGING is defined as (a) forcing a student to perform some action against his/her will, (b) physical violence of any kind against the student, and/or (c) any kind of mental harassment or intimidation.
3.
A complaint of ragging must be placed in writing with (a) the Chief Instructor,
(b) the Dy. Chief Instructor, (c) OR any Faculty member of the Institute.
4.Any student or associate of the College can file a complaint of ragging, not necessarily the student who has undergone ragging.
5.
A complaint of ragging cannot be withdrawn. A request for withdrawing a complaint will be seen as a consequence of placing a frivolous complaint and disciplinary action may be taken against the student placing such a complaint.
6.The minimum punishment for ragging is suspension for one full semester.
7.
The maximum punishment is rustication or expulsion from the Institute.
8.
Any complaint of ragging will be placed before the standing Disciplinary Committee for investigation.
9.
In a severe case of ragging, the Institute reserves the right to lodge a police complaint against the miscreant.
10.
The guidelines of the Government regarding RAGGING are given at the end of this policy document. All students are directed to read them carefully. As per these guidelines, the College has the right to impose fines up to an amount of Rs.25, 000/-.
11.
All incoming freshers will be provided with a list of phone numbers of (a) college authorities, (b) local police station. |

| MOBILE PHONES POLICY FOR STUDENTS: |
1.Use of mobile phones is banned in the campus of the college including classrooms, laboratories, work-shops, corridors, administrative offices, toilets, etc.
2.
Carrying a mobile phone is acceptable as long as it is in silent mode and it is not being used anywhere in the campus by anyone. Any mobile phones found to be ringing are liable to be seized by the college authorities.
3.
Carrying of mobile phones with cameras is not acceptable.
4.
Mobile phones cannot be used by the students inside the campus in any mode (voice, texting, music, radio, etc.).
5.
Mobile phones can be used once they are outside the college campus.
6.
Those who are found using the cell phone will be confiscated and will be returned only on payment of fine amount.
7.
The fines for illegal use of mobile phones on campus will be a minimum of Rs.200/- and may be more depending on the severity of the offense.
8.
Unauthorized photography (still and video) by cell phone, ordinary camera, digital camera or by any other means is strictly prohibited inside the campus. Anyone found guilty of violation will be fined an amount of Rs.1000/- (One thousand only).
9.
Emergency calls from parents and any other sources can be received in the office and conveyed to the students. All students can give the college office phone numbers to their parents for emergency use. |

| INSTRUCTOR TEACHING EVALUATIONS: |
1. Anonymous feedback will be taken from students two times during a semester. These metrics will be used for continual improvement of the teaching-learning process.
2.
The first feedback is for mid-course corrections to be made by the instructor. This feedback is confidential and given to the individual instructors.
3.
The results second feedback will be published on the student notice boards in addition to going into the personal file of the instructor.
4.
On the front side of the feedback form, the student will answer three questions:
- Do you have any POSITIVE comments about the Instructor?
- Do you have any NEGATIVE comments about the Instructor?
- Any other comments about the course (not related to the Instructor)?
5. The student is also required to grade the instructor (grade between A to E) on 20 questions as shown below. The weightage given to each question is shown in the table below.

| DRESS CODE FOR THE CAMPUS: |

All students and associates are expected to come to College dressed in Uniform

All unusual and fancy/party dresses are not allowed inside the campus.

All male students and associates are expected to keep the head hair length up to maximum length of two inches. Pony tails etc. are NOT acceptable.

All students and associates are expected to maintain their normal hair color.
-
All male students and associates are expected to come to college properly shaved. If somebody wants to keep a beard, the beard should be properly trimmed, not to be left unkempt.

Punishment for violation of this code will be decided by the Chief Instructor on a case by case basis. This may include fines, suspension etc.
